KI can make interesting art, too. Also a bit like Escher: ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/46486854ao.jpg)

Found some holiday snaps, I remember thinking this must be the most impressive bronze statue I’ve ever seen. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2023/10/21/C8FADFC4-920B-492C-B89A-5BB0225F67FD.jpeg)

That is ginormous.. This is my favorite she welcomes everyone into the Dart.. ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2019/09/19/mir.png) She is a lot larger than the one in Copenhagen which I actually prefer. Heather and I couldn't believe how small it was.

When it comes to sculpture I do like a bit of Andy Goldsworthy's environmental art ... leaves twigs and stones arranged to draw the eye ... so ephemeral ... touches on the impermanenance of beautiful things .... worth googling him and doing an image search ... the man has such a fertile imagination ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/22/20231022_100246.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/22/20231022_100132.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/22/Screenshot_20231022_095633_Google.jpeg) Using the natural colours of autumn leaves and stone to create things that are quite magical! A trip to Heligan is always worthwhile and a few natural sculpts around if you keep your eyes peeled. You would have to have a heart of stone not to feel moved after you see the inscriptions on the Gardeners toilet wall from those that went to the Great War and didn't return, wonderfully preserved and a tasteful tribute to these brave men.

As the Malvern Arms is for random musings here's a thread for posting Art that you've just come across or has stuck in your head over the years ... nothing precious just share away 🙂 .... there's so much out there it's easy for things to pass you by. Just like this with me! ... for some reason I've never seen this before! ...from a fresco at Pompeii .... as fresh and striking as if it was painted yesterday rather than 2100 years ago ... colours and perspective and the direct gaze of the subject just timeless. Love it! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/15/FB_IMG_1697358748295.jpeg) So, what have you got? K Unless it has been restored this is not the original but a faithful copy in a museum in Japan. The original was in much poorer condition. That takes nothing away from it being an amazing piece of art.

I believe it was restored in situ around 2015 ... they were preserved in the early 1900s .... the 2015 restoration used improved techniques and reversed some of the problems of mineral leaching and colour darkening caused by the heavy oils used in the original preservation. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2023/10/22/Screenshot_20231022_164500_Google296c36781ceb12e1.jpeg) Their earlier condition .... pretty good for 2000years and a volcano!!
