Time to renew my Plus Six Insurance, renewal premium from Admiral had increased by £200 which reduced to. £100 increase when I told them I was not renewing. Got quotes from the Morgan Insurance companies advertised in Miscellany, these are came back at over £1200 annum but this does not seem to be a competitive market at they all use KGM who do not offer or recognise NCD.
Eventually renewed with RAC at a little over £500, only downside being I have to put the hood up when left unattended, a small price to pay though for the money saved. Strange this though a nearly exceeded my 5000 mile a year this year so ran the quote for both 5000 and 7500 miles a year. Insuring at 7500 miles a year worked out cheaper than 5000 a year. Very strange so 7500 miles for this year. Tough but I sure I will find somewhere to go

My Plus Six insurance increased by around £80 at renewal which is nothing compared to what EV owners are being quoted it seems that insurance quotes are increasing across the board.

Interesting that yet again 'approved' MSCC insurers are considerably more expensive than mainstream ones (and yes, I know all the guff that they cover extra bells & whistles)

WOW!! I thought insurance over here in Ireland was bad, but that is surely pulling the finger!! I have just renewed my Plus four insurance - Fully Comp with no claims protection and a value agreed at €100K - cost €390 I did think it was pretty good value and is fantastic compared to the OP's quote!
Another good reason to be resident in this great little country!

It's definitely worth shopping around in this unusual market - I recently worked through the specialists, with 40% difference between best & worst (like for like cover, more or less). And then had an offer from a high st brand, for another 35% less.
I tend to start shopping a month before renewal, so that the business algorithms have time to register that I didn't buy their quote, and offer me their cover for less.

If one has to put the hood up every time you leave it what is the point in owning a 'roadster' ?

Had the same inflationary problem with Admiral so ran a quote comparison and they were still competitive. Insure on price not quality these days because not had a claim for 20+ years so saved thousands without the bells and whistles.
Thought I had read somewhere that insurers don’t recommend securing the cars because if a scroat wants to get in for a rummage he would just slit the roof material causing £££’s.
If nothing is left in the car of value, no damage caused - might be a mog myth.
Don’t think they get nicked - too specialist - has anybody heard of a stolen Morgan?

If nothing is left in the car of value, no damage caused - might be a mog myth. That is what Gott & Wynne advised me. LV take a more traditional position with the Boxster, but raising and lowering the hood is the work of seconds at up to 50kph.....so I do as they ask. And if you think a Morgan roof is expensive a Porsche one is about £3,500 including fitting and glass rear window. It is a 4 layer covering.

Yep, my quote from G&W says "1) The policy does not require you to put the hood up every time you get out of the vehicle (if your Morgan has one)."
