Sinckler coming on and failing three times in the scrum cost us the match due to conceded penalties but I did enjoy the game. We have a South African wife of our son down in Kernow that loved it a wee bit more though... Yup bring on the Six Nations.. Meantime I'm going to give this International a go..

I hate to say it but England were very unlucky not to win. IMO Sinckler cost them the game. I’ve never been a fan of his play and it’s been said that the number on his back is more than his IQ!

The real reason you lost was due to Owen Farrell - his mouthing to the ref cost 10 meters which enabled SA get three points - without that you would have won - good effort, though!!

Good news to see the Pacific Nations Cup for 2024 to be expanded to six nations to now include Canada and USA, with two pools of three teams leading to a 2 elimination playoffs for the first and second in each pool winning team battling it out for the championship etc. Whilst odds are that Fiji will dominate again at least it creates far more competition and revenue for the teams and hopefully raise their competitiveness within the wider rugby community.

Cracking match by England, who just came up short. IMHO, with 20 minutes to go, the writing was on the wall for them. The scrum and lineout were coming under huge pressure. Marler and Cole had coped well, but were buckling prior to being substituted. The replacement front row were no match for SA’s replacements. I had £20 on England at 5 to 1 - decent odds and for 60 minutes I thought I might have a chance of a profit. My allegiance for the final is with the All Blacks. (Daughter-in-law is NZ born and my son is now an NZ citizen. They live near Auckland) Let’s hope England want 3rd place more than Argentina. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

Apparently the women in France are clamouring to have sex with the English rugby players...they love a man who can stay on top for 77 minutes and still come second 🤔

The real reason you lost was due to Owen Farrell - his mouthing to the ref cost 10 meters which enabled SA get three points - without that you would have won - good effort, though!! Robbie, Whilst the animated Farrell right from the outset didn't help our cause with his protestations with the ref, we found out to our cost that unlike in the Irish game (which the outcome would have been different) as in England's case the SA 's turned up with someone who was on form with their kicking game. I've been reading a lot of the Irish press since the Irish exit, whilst some of it has been a little bit bitter, the most telling subjective comment (and this applied equally to England) was that Ireland did not have a strong enough bench for the evitable substitutions. I feel that some nations have a massive reserve of skilled players, which allows them an advantage to play in effect 2 different games in a match, a massive advantage over countries with equally strong starting line up but not the same depth of skill on the bench. I think the game would be very different if they restricted the number of substitutions and it would give lesser teams more of a competitive edge than they current enjoy. Also, I think it has lead to the increased bulking up of players, lead to more aggressive tackling etc, as many players do not expect to remain on for the full 80 minutes and therefore perform at an unstainable level for their part of the game which they could not maintain for the whole game. Whilst it can be more entertaining to watch an elevated pace to the game, I would prefer to see how the match play would change if the majority of the team had to play the full 80 minutes.. I always try and get to see Leinster play at the RDS and Ireland at Aviva if we can get tickets when we are visiting family, so I enjoy Irish, NZ and English rugby because of family connections.......so its England and NZ this weekend.
