My nephew has just finished re-commissioning this 1988 4/4. It wasn't registered until 1991 and has never been on the road. Delivery mileage only - 18 miles ! The one, and only, owner had some very specific requirements included in the build. Not to all tastes I would imagine but unique all the same. I understand that the owner was good friends with the then sales manager.

After all, the color combination is very appealing to me. At first I thought it was a Mercedes star, it is not, but still a very strange taste to put it diplomatically. I guess your nephew will very likely dismantle this emblem quite soon. Actually a very rare case of a car that has never been driven in over 30 years. May I ask what your nephew paid for her?

It's not the only unused car that the owner had, so I assume that he just enjoyed owning and looking at them. I think the badge did start off as a Mercedes star, not quite sure what he was trying to achieve. The lacquered floorboards/locker intrigued me, a lot of effort for something that's never seen. The area behind the seats and the door panels also appear to be custom finished. The build sheets list the various special features he specified. I believe that the bumpers are unusual and even the bonnet catches are an earlier variant.

Interesting car. I wonder what the big hoop is and the odd brackets which may be attached to it above the spare wheel..?

Sorry, not to my taste! How doe somebody can specify a car so exceptionally, pay a lot or it and than not drive it?????? Look at the hood frame, an attempt for the first easy up hoods????
With some changes and deletions you can make a nice " new" 4/4 from it......!

Agree ... some odd personal choices .... but without the bonnet mascot and the strange striping it would look really good .... without the stripes the red piping would be less 'busy' ... are the hood franes Stainless?
