Thanks for information, Morgan have accepted there was an upgrade but could not confirm if my car had been done. I bought my car in April 23 (an April 22 model). As the posts started in October 23 I'm doubtful they have been changed. Service and rack works are due in March so I'll report back.

John, thanks for the news ref upgrade on luggage rack attachment points. It may be me, but if this upgrade is real I am surprised that Morgan have not let this be known to the older CX car owners. I am fully aware that systems evolve and are modified, but in this instance there is enough evidence that a failure has the potential to cause issues on the road.

It would have been wise if Morgan had at least made it be known that an upgrade had occurred. If the upgrade is true, it would be good information to find out exactly how the brackets have been upgraded, either by further welding or a redesign.

If I were the designer, I would mill it out of solid material. It's a bit more expensive, but it lasts

I had my brackets s/s welded at Krazy Horse after I saw the posts last year. We did a 3,326 mile six week trip around France in July/August with a pretty chunky case, and sidescreens on some occasions, on the rack and had no problems at all. I agree with Clemens that it would be better if the brackets were CNC'd from a solid block in the first place.

In March 2023 we bought one of the last MY 2022 PlusFours and the brackets were not upgraded. So my dealer s/s welded the brackets without making any problems. Although we never carry very heavy stuff on the back, and no side screens, better save than sorry. It was Clemens who woke me up. Glad it did not happen to us!

So evidently these are upgraded brackets which look very similar to Andrews ones which he has reinforced.
My car was built in April 22 and serviced in Feb 23 before sale to the dealer.

Thanks for the replies. However, my car is a 2025 Plus Four. The photos and info. in your replies seem to be for an earlier year. I already own the new Librands rack made to match up with the factory pre-delivery package. (It would have been a $93 item if done at time of build, now it will be $1700 inc. labor, paint, etc.) I was told that they could order the hardware and a new valence with the holes etc. I asked how they will exactly space the mounts to match the spacing of the rack's legs. They described the mounts as NOT separate. "They come on a long piece which itself gets attached to the chassis." I just want confirmation that what I'm being told is correct – before they order.
