I am trying to identify the Three spare connector blocks situated under the fuse board. (Both 2 wire connectors) I have checked out the chassis wiring diagram and have manage to identify one- the intercom connector (Purple with White stripe and Black) rated at 5 amp. One other is a two Black wires which I assume is a earth connector, the other is a Black with a Orange stripe and a Black - both these are not shown on the wiring diagram or fuse board?
Also what type of plug in connectors are these.

What car have you got? Can you take photos of the connectors?

The intercom feed connector is likely Econoseal and a useful permanent fused power feed if not used. Plug and socket sets of varying pin numbers are available on eBay. Click for source. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/zwIAAOSwA3tXoLag/s-l1200.jpg) On pre August 2014 models there are also short leads with two pin connectors for tacho and speedo configuration, black/orange & black and black/slate & black respectively. These are so similar to the wire colour codes you mention I guess you maybe mis-read. These appear to be a different type of connector though.

Thanks Guys Sorry my car is late 2013 M3W. You are right Richard the spare two pin connectors I refer to are for the Intercom and now having checked again the others are as you say the tacho and speedo configuration? they are not shown on the fuse board diagram so what are these used for.
Comparing the two chassis wiring diagrams in the MMC Spares list the taco and speedo connectors do not appear on the later diagram.?
I also note that my fuse board has a spare outlet (No 20) which is currently unfused. it is fed by a Red and Blue Stripe cable and a Red Cable-where do these terminate if you wanted to use them as an additional fused supply??
Looking at the wiring diagrams some of the connector pins have red number by certain pins- what do these indicate.
I would attach a photo if I knew how to get the file size down to that allowed.

More info on calibrating the VDO instruments on thread here. Suggest you download the VDO instructions via link on this thread if you are interested. I believe you can add a momentary switch to the calibration wires to achieve various programming functions particularly adjusting the speed sensor to display correct speed (mph or kph) and according to tyres fitted to front of car. Regarding the spare fuse position on early cars, most plain red wires are a permanent unfused battery feed excepting the main 50 amp fuse. You can see the bombtail (distribution point) on schematic where multiple feeds are taken from battery, all being red wires. The numbers in red on schematic connectors simply indicate pin number sequence, the first and last often being shown. All wires can be traced on the schematics if you have patience. Each wire end has its colour code followed by unique number. Just a matter of finding the matching one indicating the other end of cable, which could be at a bombtail. If you could explain what you need an extra power feed for it would help. Does it need to be permanent or via ignition switch for example.

Thanks Richard
Looking to feed a SPA Oil pressure and temperature gauge - ignition switched feed. I was going to use the spare 5 amp fused intercom connector unless a more simple solution is available. Its the same fuse rating as heated seats on later cars.

Gordon, I used the redundant intercom feed as main supply to air horn relay when I fitted same to my M3W. Problem is it's a permanently live feed! For ignition switched one I would locate the green/yellow distribution bombtail (50mm from where two black chassis connections break out of main loom) and add an extra wire there, maybe to that spare fuse location and on to your extra gauges.

Thanks for that Richard.
From what you are saying I could just tap into green yellow and run a wire direct to gauge via a inline fuse.
If I use the spare fuse in the board I take it I cut off both cables (Red and Red and Blue) and supply power to the fuse with the green/yellow and connect the other end of the fuse with the cable feeding the gauge.?
