Well jealous - that's a beautiful motor

Many thanks everyone for the warm welcome. One question I'd be interested to hear views on: my car is not coming with a hard top - do people find them particularly useful and is there anywhere you can still get one? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/02/24/PXL_20210223_141313474.md.jpg) I found the S5's carbon hardtop changed the car's character from soft-top Roadster to hardtop GT - (relatively!) calm & much more useable on a long run, especially motorways. & fuel consumption would also drop from open-topped 25mpg to nearer 30mpg. Fitting the top took a bit of fettling - all part of the full Morgan ownership experience! - initial adjustment by the dealer - I discovered that the perspex had only been sealed top & bottom: dealer took it out & refitted with neater finishing to the sealant, *all the way round the window*! - then I added some B-shaped rubber to the boot lid, which stopped the rattle over bumps. Maybe Morgan thought that metal in contact with carbon fibre wouldn't make a noise. Or maybe they didn't expect such a tight fit! - and finally, the Dealer drilled some holes in the trailing edge. Once the hardtop is fully fettled, cabin airflow is insufficient to prevent misting on the side windows. The extra holes did the trick, creating a throughput of air in all weathers & clear windows.

Very interesting to hear the efforts you had to go to to make it truly fit for purpose! I'm going to persevere with the soft top for a while and see how I get on before I go in search of what sounds like a rather rare option - I presume the S5 hardtop is different from the S4 in any case. Your one looks fabulous hardtop on or top down!

One week into Aero ownership and it's still pouring with rain outside, so X44ERO sits in the garage for now. I thought I'd just share a few first impressions of Morgan ownership: 1. I purchased the car from Bell & Colvill in Surrey - the Morgan Sales Manager, Richard Wright, could not have been more helpful in finding the car I was looking for and in general customer care. I've also had very nice correspondence with the Kent Morgan dealership. 2. Gill Bevan is the most efficient membership secretary of any club I've joined - I was signed up and received my membership pack within 24 hours! 3. I live on the Sussex-Kent border - my wife has strongly vetoed the idea of me joining any group called Sex Mog, so Hop Mog it will be! I hope to get to go to some events in the not too distant future. 4. I did get to take X44ERO out for a 30 mile trip on Saturday and really enjoyed it: it sounds great, stops properly (in a straight line), the ride on poor surfaces is quite firm (but I've driven a daily car with run flat, low profile wheels whose weight makes it feel more uncomfortable), the 6-speed manual is a bit notchy and takes a bit of getting used to but I thought I'd almost certainly have to buy an auto so I'm delighted with what I've got, the AC blows suitably hot so my wife is very happy to have the hood down and the buffering compares quite favourably with her MX5. Finally, I am 6'2" and fit very nicely when I'm in - getting in and out without looking a bit silly is, however, going to take some practice. 5. I've very much appreciated the welcome I've received on this forum - and hope to see some of you in person in the coming months. If the rain would only just stop for a bit...
