This post has spun out from a conversation regarding Plus Six heating. I am adding photos for the first time, so I hope this helps.. Please bear with me as I have not undertaken this before.
Our Plus Six is mid 2020 and we had issues with drafts from the doors when side screens and hood were on. I found out that the early Plus Six cars ( pre 2022 ) had a thin lower door seal fitted and this was updated later in production from around 2022. I believe, but am not 100% certain, that this revised type of lower door seal was fitted from start of production of the Plus Four.
Anyway, we retro fitted the updated 2022 Plus Six door seal that fits from the door lock area around the bottom of the door and up 1/3rd on the front edge, it is much wider and thicker than the original lower door seal and we have found that it fully sorted all the drafts along the lower edge of the door. See Photo 1, 2 and 3.
The next very large draft came at the rear of the door when the side screens were fitted. It was found that there was a 40mm gap between the rear lower rear end of the sidescreen seal and the upper end of the door seal. The fix was to purchase some D section soft hollow neoprene and insert this inside the end of the factory fitted hollow side screen seal, it was pushed in 30 to 40mm into the old hollow seal, the fit was snug so did not need glue to hold it in place, the extended seal was then cut level with the door, leaving a slight 4-5mm gap between the sidescreen and door seals.. See Photo 1.
The added section of seal holds in place and squishes up when the door is closed preventing any drafts, it also sits on the sidescreen, so no issue putting the sidescreen on and off. As it is inserted into the end of the original seal it can be removed at any time if required.
Lastly, in an attempt to locate the other sources of door drafts I parked the car in our dark garage, sat inside the car with the doors closed and then my wife used a flashlight along the lower edges of the door sidescreens etc, this easily revealed the draft entry points. I found that the alloy sidescreen fixing stays produced a sealing gap at their inner top. The fix was to glue on 10mm round soft neoprene onto to the top of the alloy stays, the same width as the stay, this squishes down when the side screen is attached and closes the gap and can not be seen.. ( no photos of this yet )..
