Hmm, in a Porsche the engine is in the right place in the back, a front engine car doesn't traditionally fit the brand. In order for me to really like a Ferrari, it has to have the engine in the front. All-time great: 250 GT SWB. But the current Roma is nice too. Nothing against an Italia 458 oder 488. The only mid-engine Ferraris I didn't warm to were the 12 cylinders. They have squeezed a huge engine into the cars. I've never driven one, but the testers say that it didn't drive very nicely. For me, a 12 cylinder belongs at the front and an 8 cylinder can be a mid-engined Ferrari.

More fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow...... The very reason I went looking for a Morgan having tested the then new to Market 993. Compared to the 911 SC I owned at the time it just seemed so much more insular, although it definately was superior as a more advanced machine in so many ways, I felt that to arrive at the feeling of real enjoyment in piloting it... one had to really be pushing on. Porsche V Ferrari.... in everyday terms Porsches became pretty commonplace on the road some years back in a way that Ferrari has never been, or likely to be...?

Don't think Howards perpetual dilemma is about buying a Boxter more about buying a mog, he's got a lot nicer than a Boxter

The Ferrari and the Porsche ; both fantastic vehicles. However - heart and head! Peter asks, what does the Porsche not do? Same with motorbikes Ducati or BMW? Fair play to any BMW owner, but my choice has always been for a Ducati. BMWs are great bikes, but my Ducati bikes were always special. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

I was fond of my Ducati OHC`singles in the late sixties and early seventies, my last bike was a BMW R80 R, thus I feel fortunate to have fond memories of both marques.

For me, a car has to be visually appealing, with a decent interior, but also with a purpose, a role, and my current fleet cover all the bases. The fact that I could cut the fleet by half and still fulful that need is irrelevant!!
Quirks and the potential to fettle are key on toy cars (for me).......

For me, a car has to make me smile when I sit behind the wheel. As DW says, it has to be able to do the tasks asked of it. One of the main reasons I bought a used Boxster rather than. a new Plus 4 was that the PlusFour couldn't do everything I wanted and needed, the Boxster does.
For me, my fettling days are over, age related inflexibility and other issues mean I'm no longer able to do what I could do 20 years ago. Changing a wheel on the Plus 8 became a struggle, the Boxster wheels are bigger and wider = heavier!
Running a baby budget Porsche is within my means, but running a Fezza would not be.
