Yep very odd commentary and background
It is an accepted adage that history is shaped by historians, not fact. Charles Morgan does not write. But he often dictates what he wants people to believe.
There are much better sources if accuracy is wanted. But his name, like his father's before him, sells these books. Some of the stuff that has come out in the last
two decades, whether books or articles, is silly.
Morgan facts are ALWAYS more fascinating than fancy. A very readable work with an effort for truth is Brian Laban's book..or for the short period of time it covers, David Dowse. Any of the historians during the Peter
Morgan era, Dr. Jake Alderson, Bowden, Hill et all, but these fellows all are/were in awe of and friends of Peter. They wrote accordingly
and no one should blame
them. The best stuff is from older Works staff or members of the family, muchly different perspectives. For example, one of the best sources from the latter group
was the sweet Aunt Dotty, one of HFS' younger sisters, Peter Morgan's aunt.
Sadly, the farther from events time passes, the more great stuff gets lost and the more silliness appears. That is sad for posterity. So much wonderful stuff is missed.
The real story would make any of the popular British series look very dull.
