Although I know what an A post is I think you would need to be more specific in where your corrosion in that area is. A picture would help greatly Ray.

As lots of Trads suffer and I suspect the CX windscreen 'A' post is made of the same monkey metal alloy, it's just a matter of time, photo of the corrosion starting point would help as Richard suggests, around the screen fixing holes, I guess ?

Our Plus Six started the corrosion when 2 yrs old on both sides. Repaired under warranty. The dealer informed me the original screen fixing holes are made too small, so after initial painting when the allan screws are inserted the Allan heads rip the paint off as they are tightened.. See photo. The leading edge of the screws Allan head is tight to the front where the corrosion started. The answer is to enlarge the hole around the head and repaint.. I also push in around the allan head sides clear vaseline or similar to help stop water ingress. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2023/11/19/Nearside-side-pillar.jpeg)

A bit disappointing, however, if you consider the threads on any screw are like the teeth of a saw or the surface of a metal file, there would seem to be the chance that the minimal amount of paint likely to be left holding on around the rim of a hole through painted metal... add to that water ingress and the outcome over time seems likely...For sure mechanical equipment can be designed built and maintained to last, but I suspect that takes a bit more time effort and cost..?

As lots of Trads suffer and I suspect the CX windscreen 'A' post is made of the same monkey metal alloy, it's just a matter of time.. Correct. As discussed in another thread, when the "hard times" began in the early 2000s, the MMC began look for ways to save money. In this area, they abandoned the traditional windscreen pillars, at one time chromed bronze (up to some time in late 1970s, then chromed steel (the chrome would flake), each in a two piece format which made windscreen removal and re-installation easy. Then the MMC turned to coated pot metal or "monkey" metal as you say. The supports inevitably rotted completely. However, the trads could benefit from polished stainless steel from the trad aftermarket (Worrall). But even if John was still in business, I am not sure HIS would fit the new generation of Morgans. Morgan shapes change and the CX cars do not have the same frame, body etc of trad cars. Actually, trad models and eras are often different from each other. However, the good Mr. David Vodden of ThamesMog found a method of refurbishing these things. https://www.thamesmog.co.uk/articles/technical/479-refurbishing-windscreen-supportsI cannot think of another solution. gmg

I made a mistake on how these supports were fashioned over time! There was a period where the bronze was aluminum sprayed alloy...before they became alloy.

Phil Ledgerwood sold chromed A posts on an exchange basis around 2009, but the finish didn't hold up over time so they were discontinued. The Allen bolts just need removing and apply your favourite "solution" whether that be Coppaslip, ceramic grease, Vaseline or whatever. Then just watch closely for the merest hint of corrosion. The finish on those A posts varies. My 2005 has an almost Hammerite look, which may or may not be original. It hasn't shifted in 19 years. My 2016 has a sort of battleship grey semi gloss finish. It's still OK after seven years despite the worst Scotland could throw at it. The point is this. If you pay over £70k for a car, corrosion of the A posts after such a short time isn't good enough.

Common fault on all models, I had mine resprayed in the body colour by Melvyn who did it properly and guaranteed it would not re-occur. Not cheap but worth it.
