The housing for the rear license plate marker light is cracked. I ordered a new one from Morgan Spares but it must be for a newer model since it doesn't fit on the integral license plate bracket and all the innards from the old light I had planned on transplanting in the new housing are misfit. So as I see it, I have three options. Option #1----repair the crack and have the original housing replated. Welding or brazing I fear would likely warp the thin sheet metal.so soldering might be the best alternative, but can solder be re-chrome plated? I don't know! Option #2---Keep the new housing and try to find the rest of the innards and license plate bracket that fit. Since these parts weren't cataloged as avalable on the Morgan Spares website , I'm concerned that tracking down these parts will be time consuming, expensive and not much fun. Option #3---.Since nearly all the parts on my 4/4 Series II were also used on other British sportscars, I could scout out import wrecking yards for a donor. The problem with this is that I don't know what other cars used the same license plate marker.
So, I've got to ask here: does anyone know what cars used the same marker light as the Morgan 4/4 Series II? And, Can a soldered repair be successfully chrome plated? Thanks!

I have a chrome plated fuel pipe on an old bike. Question is though are the olives each end soft or silver soldered on Thoughts are that a silver soldered repair would be preferable given it definitely can be chrome plated.
