On the worst day for weather in a long time here, I was booked in for an MOT ! Bit the bullet and didn't cancel (much to the surprise of my tester) but all good, now about 2 days of cleaning to do banghead

I had exactly the same about a month ago with my then nice and clean Plus 4. It's still sitting covered in mud as the builders up the road seem to be engaged solely in taking mud off the field they are working in and spreading it liberally across all the local highways. Then, what can only be described as a "road smearer" comes out at the end of each day and evens out the lumps a bit leaving a 1/4" smear of mud covering the road surface.

Oh dear, sounds a bit like our local farmers.

We have all that but without the smearer. Road drains are blocked regularly leaving a wall of sandy mud at the end of our drive after any significant rain. I think the local farmer concerned is slowly loosing his fields to the village at the bottom of the hill innocent

Last week, actually, I took the car up to Bill Mack's shop in East Providence for some winter projects. I got rid of the balaclava after a few miles because my glasses were fogging up, but the car LOVED the cooler temperatures.

Yes you can easily get 5% bhp improvement mid winter compared to mid summer on a normally aspirated engine assuming something approaching a cold air inlet. A very rough guide is one percent improvement for every 4°C (or 7°F) reduction in intake temp.

Had a run over to Great British sports cars for their cars a coffee meet and bumped into Paul Cowland and chatted cars.

Also had to give Darth a good bath when I got back.

A quick run out in bright sunshine to Exeter Racecourse yesterday to see the "LE JOG" rally cars that paused there for an off road test stage. They then headed north through Wales and Cumbria overnight and today - they are in for some challenging conditions on the way to John O' Groats over the next day or two, if the weather forecast is correct! Some interesting cars from all over Europe taking on the challenge

Well, it is sort of a "cold air inlet"...
