My speedo is over reading by at least 10% which also means the recorded 2200 miles should only be 2000.

Anyone else had this and is there a remedy?

Don't know about the electronic ones, but in the days of mechanical speedometers, the speed reading and mileage recorder were two separate items - so your mileometer may be correct...

Cheers,

Hi Viper, I found the web site 'Morganatica' through another thread on TalkMorgan. Go to section 6, section Instrumentation.
That may help.

When I had my diff upgrade, Ben at Mike Duncan's showed me have to adjust the later speedos. Looked pretty straightforward apart from working out the correct value to input! Anyone know what the figures actually represent?

I think you'll find this is the case for most speedo's when compared to Satnav's. My guess is that this gives the car manufactures enough wriggle room if deluged by speeding claims.

Image the situation if it under reported by 10%. cop

Somewhere on the forum ( along while ago) someone did have a fix for this as they had changed the diff and it involved resetting or selecting a value on the speedo. I cant find the post but maybe Simon can help.

Thanks Guys....I'll check out section 6.

Trouble is at 200mph I'm really only doing 180mph.....so annoying smile

I know most cars over read but I've never seen 10%. Porsche are usually spot on.

I'm sure if its over reading then the milometer must be doing the same???

Speedo cannot legally read low and has a 10%(I think) allowance for over stating speed.
This is the reg for when testing a kitcar at its LVA so I assume it applies to all cars.
Does the MOT include a test?
I don't recall seeing one. Maybe its just a yes/no for is it working?

"Actually what/where is section 6??".

Viper,
Section 6 is within a wikipedia type website.
Type Morganatica, in Google and then look at section 6.

From memory I believe the legally acceptable region for a speedo from a manufacturer is +10% (Showing 77 in a 70) and -3% (Showing 68)

Wheel and tyre combinations can cause a significant margin on this.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
