With regard to using your fogs for daylight awareness, you may be interested in the switchback LED's I have fitted in front indicator position. Description of conversion starts here. Definitely the best electrical mod I've done to Morton and all using existing loom cables. Car passes MOT without mention despite not being able to turn them off once ignition on, as ex factory.

Thanks for the link Richard and all your support, I'll certainly look into your DRL option thumbs

I have to confess I'm a bit of a geek for the backdating thing, so for me the yellow glass globes are essential, when you look into the reflector with the lamp off they deliver that delightful vintage car golden glow effect I love so much.

The lesson I soon learnt when I first tried these yellow glass globes over a set of pure white LED H4s was that this combination produces a truly hideous lime green light sick2, when I finally stopped laughing I switched to warm white LED H4s and the traditional yellow light output I wanted was achieved and with that all important golden glow with the lamps off.

This time I went with yellow for the Marchal LEDs because yellow is offered and I had read somewhere if you're using a filter, in my case the yellow globes, you lose less light if you start out with an LED thats producing the same colour, from memory this came from someone converting yellow lens fogs to LED bulbs, but lets see how it all plays out on Monty thinking

Certain colour variants suit LED technology better than others.

Colour choice is academic anyway since power consumption is so low and there is usually a more powerful variant if needed. Would agree that choosing colour at LED source and having diffused clear lens is better than coloured.

My new Marchal LEDs are installed and in the process I found a short in the O/S lamp, I remade the defective wiring but I've also made sure the both bulb holders are working better by pre-tensioning each central contact. The colour of these LEDs is more on the amber side of yelow, I've been reading about this and apparently the amber 1763K color temperature has stronger penetrating power than 3535k yellow.

I'll report back on how they perform on the road as soon as I've teseted them.

Some images that better show the light output and colour hue of the Marchal LEDs.

As an ex block paver, I think your drive needs a bit of work smile smile

(although a good scrub and a couple of bags of silver sand would help!)

confused

Thanks for your observations re my drive, actually my chimney also needs repointing, if you're really that interested in my home maintenance jobs I can share photos of this too?

The story with the drive is the cowboys who put it in for the old lady we bought the house from, failed to tie the edge in, so no surprise it collapsed.

Just a bit of light hearted TM thread drift smile

I may have resembled the comment about 'cowboys'. I remember doing a tarmac drive once and we ran out of white chips right at the end of the job.. The boss sent me out to buy polos to finish off.......
