Last time I used mine, I suckered it to the glass of the speedo. Very visible, and you can hear the nagging woman more clearly.

Mmmmmm Miss Lumley  I have Kim Cattrall inside my Tom Tom and sometimes take the wrong route so she can be firm with me  Of course.......if I had a "Lovely Lady Budster" I wouldn't need such modern technology! I do still carry the odd map in the car just in case. The lovely Lady Budster has many fine attributes; and a stunningly good sense of direction; but when it comes to map reading . . . ! ! ! ? ? ?

Nick..I've just got my TomTom adhesive mount kit ( expensive as you don't need two of the mounts!) and the satnav is now neatly mounted under the dash like yours. Seems to work well....as long as the adhesive holds!!

Nice one Jay! Don't think the adhesive should let go - as long as you cleaned the surface first with TomTom's solvent wet-wipe thingy - in my experience, this stuff sticks like the proverbial. I tried suckering my SatNav to the speedo as an experiment when I went for a run on Wednesday. Worked fine - could hear all the nagging instructions even at speed - but couldn't see a darned thing on the screen, as the sun was behind me a lot of the way  Also realised that (when I could see the screen), I couldn't read the digital speed display clearly without looking over/under my glasses (or taking them off  ) as I'm short-sighted. Not a problem with the good old-fashioned "analogue" speedo. So it's back to Plan A - clipped in under the dash

'63 +4 - Removed non working speedometer and mounted Garmin Nuvi in that space. Not pretty but works ok. Mind you my +4 is LHD so the GPS is also on the left side. Garmin has a rather large Speedometer. I also have a Tom Tom 1, but the speedometer is small. Not sure about later models. I will post a picture when I figure out how.

For me, mounting the GPS below the dashboard means I have to take my eyes off the road too much to check directions. On the dash top I find it interferes with the forward vision too much.
I use RAM bits to mount the GPS via the scuttle bar. To mount to the scuttle I used a RAM-B-108B, It's mounted on the scuttle on the right hand side of the glove box, I found that this was the best location for various flavours of Smart phone, for a Tom-Tom it may be different, it is easy enough to have a play and find somewhere that suits.
The arm length I went for was the B-201 (3 inches measured from centre of ball to centre of ball). For various reasons I epoxied a Brodit mounting Plate to a RAM-B-238 and then use various flavours of Brodit powered mount to suit the Smart-Phone-Of-The-Month.
It all sound much more complex then it actually is.
Because of the nature of the RAM system you can adjust the arms as much as 360 degrees so do not really see the need for a flexible arm and vibration is not a problem.
For the sound problem I plug the smartphone into the back of the radio. Hi Brian, Could you post some pictures of your system ? Thank -you. BR. Daniel.

Hi Daniel.
I will do, but it will be a while I'm afraid. I have just relocated the Sat Nav to the Land Rover and will be driving over to the UK until the end of the month.
(Actually the real reason is that I will have to clean the cockpit from head to toe otherwise it will be a bit embarrassing after yours...)
Incidentally I will be meeting up with Richard R who is buying my 90.
