My wife and I stay home New Years Eve. We’re cooking smoked trout turnovers with a Dijon mustard cream sauce and lump crab cakes. For drinks a good French 75. Cooking the meal is half the fun. Then we’ll watch a movie.
A little history of the French 75 according to Wikipedia:
The drink dates to World War I, and an early form was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris—later Harry's New York Bar—by barman Harry MacElhone.
The combination was said to have such a kick that it felt like being shelled with the powerful French 75mm field gun.

I'll be filming? videoing? the 20 man strong pipe band that marches down our avenue. Then it'll be a Tesco roast beef dinner followed by a glass of Glenmorangie with three lumps.

For our friends on the other side of the pond here's a guide to making a proper Steak and Kidney pudding, I just absolutely want one now!! .... but as the annual winter over-eating fest is about to begin I'll wait til later in the winter .. ... comfort foods don't get much more comforting than this on a cold winter's day 😋 https://fb.watch/p3V98MV42H/SWMBO doesnt like kidney so I havent had one of those since my late mother passed away. No way would she put Bisto or whatever it was in there - the whole point of steak and kidney is the delicious gravy it makes As for new years eve, we had lobster with chocolate fondant for desert.

A mate of mine once gave me a teeny tiny chunk of Scorpion Death Chilli Chocolate. It poleaxed me for about 30 mins. By the time I'd recovered he'd sensibly scarpered as I'd have punched him to death.
