Good day.

I am having trouble changing gears and especially selecting 1st. My diagnosis is that the clutch cable needs adjustment as it engages when the pedal is raised only about 1cm from the firewall.

I am capable of doing this but feel there may be someone who has been through it and has some suggestions (how far from the firewall should it engage, for example). I have searched the forum and not found anything appropriate.

Comments welcome.

Having looked at it, I worked it out. The cable was loose so I tightened the adjusting nut three turns then secured the lock nut again. The clutch engages now when the pedal is about 40cm from the firewall. All back to normal, engaging first and reverse and normal gear changes easier.

This had worsened slowly and I should have looked at it before, but until yesterday I could engage first. It just slipped over the line from difficult to not available.

Thanks for the help.

Not many were made. There are two known +4 Fiat cars in Australia (both 1986), and we are both MOCA members but the cars have never met each other. There are also 4/4 Fiat examples but I do not know how many.

Talk Morgan is a great resource, it does not matter where you and your car live.

I hope the winter is reasonably kind to you. Its 29C here today!

It's warmed up to a balmy 2C here. smile

I toured the factory a fair bit in the mid 80's so probably saw yours in build!
