The simple truth is that most people can't afford an EV.........and that will determine the rate of adoption. I suspect that's why planned sales are not matching targets, VW in the USA is one example

Peanut tanks? I had one on a Sportster which gave only 90 mile range. Mind you that was as much as my backside could cope with thanks to forward pegs

Not just those with peanut tanks on sportsters (spare petrol cans carried on back rack) even some of the larger tank bikes struggled in the massive 50/60mph headwinds we experienced in the mid west, reducing range quite dramatically. Most of the group of 26 riders had only done a few hundred miles in a day, so quite a culture shock when we were doing closer to 500 miles a day for 3 weeks. I always sat on a new leather shammy (even though I had a leather seat) as it allowed my backside more comfort, than just the seat alone. For many cigarette breaks interrupted daily progress. We were all riding our personal UK Harleys that we crated up and shipped back to the USA (coals to Newcastle) in 1993 for the HD 90th anniversary celebrations and then onto Sturgis etc. So a real mixture of sportsters, softails, Electra glides etc., some bikes like the sportsters not really up to the miles with their bone shaking ride.......a couple of sportsters did the journey 2 up......rather them than me. but a great experience.

500 miles a day for days on end on a Harley....RESPECT, more so when 3-400 miles a day in my old +8 was thought to be pushing things a bit circa almost a couple of decades back..!

It was the forward pegs that got me John. The inability to stand up on the pegs or at least ease upward a bit and move your bum about.

I watched the vid and suspect that the issue may be more related to voltage reduction in the local area as the result of infrastructure stresses related to the cold weather, as opposed to issues with the vehicles..?
I charged my Tesla at home without issue during the cold snap. on plugging it in initially is performed a battery pre-heat, prior to charging and charged up as normal to full capacity.

One Tesla cold weather function I really like is that without leaving the house I can beam it up on my phone and defrost the car, I can even select individual seat and or steering wheel heating, all of which seems to be advantageous as opposed to being out in the cold scraping ice from screens and getting in to a freezing cold car to drive off...The other day when I beamed up the car to defrost it, the interior temperature was displayed at -6deg C, once the interior was up to my pre-set temp level, the car informed me via the app on my phone....

It seems my Luddite tendencies may be slipping somewhat... (-:

I'm pretty sure that I could do that on my F type roadster. In fact I could still have done it once it was sold and in a showroom since they had not disconnected my ID from the system.

But the one bit about that car that I really liked was the heated steering wheel.

But back on to the EV subject, with all this gloom and despondency about EVs I wonder if now isnt the time to buy one. £££££££ in pocket?
