Richard, the Triton made use of a Triumph engine and a Norton Featherbed frame. The early version of the Norton frame had two parallel top tubes that ran from the headstock back to pick up the rear spring/shocker mounts and as such it was quite wide in the area of the riders crotch... Whereas in the later versions of the frame the top tubes were waisted approaching and leaving the critical area in order to facilitate a more comfortable seating position for the smaller rider.

The cartoon suggests that the ironing board is to prepare him for the width of the frame. The front rope to get him used to the position of clip on handlebars and the rear ropes to prepare him for rear =set footrests... Been there done that.... (-:

End result those who are in the know, understand why I my gait looks a tad cowboy like....

George, thank you for that full explanation of the different types of Triton.
I was aware of and have seen Tritons back in the day but never aware of the differences, I have posted pictures on here of them and Goldies as I think they are poetry to look at, all that glitters is not gold though.

This is exactly why I love this place as no matter where the subject goes someone on here will have the knowledge and willingness to share it with us all guru

Exactly that.

They were later designated either "wideline" or "slimline" featherbed frames.
