I noticed that the Plus four that I sold to Krazey Horse has had the side screens window surrounds painted black. Has anyone done this and know how difficult it is?

I'm almost sure that KH has a pet Powder Coating Co they use for all their bespoke work, I was once looking at some pretty impressive chrome they had done that was PPC

Very easy Gary. I use GKL powder coaters next door to Snetterton race circuit. All the black bits on my car have been coated by them, some since near new and all still perfect. John V6 knows an equally cheap place near you I believe.

Worth mentioning the nature of application leaves a less than full gloss finish so if you want silk black ask for full gloss black paint.

Thanks Richard. Do you think the thickness of the powder coating could cause the windows to stick?

Yes just beyond Dobbies Gary. I would be worried how you get the perspex out without breaking it. I replaced the slding part on my 94 4/4 and the old ones cracked coming out.

There also seems to be a Suffolk Powder Coating in Felixstowe on goodgle maps but the address is a private house.

You may need to be a little inventive replacing felt slides Gary maybe gently sanding down the thickness if necessary. Make sure when removing/replacing perspex it's relatively warm though. Thread here on the subject.

^ Nice, black anodised would look rather special as you still (just) see the base metal below

Might have a go myself. Has anyone stripped down to bare frame, Classic side screens?

You could ask Dan at KH as he has had mine done. I don’t think that there is much difference between cx ant trad Sidescreen. If anything I suspect the cx may need more work
