I theory you can PPC stainless wire wheels, but surely this would devalue them by a lot ?

You could not go back to the original Stainless high polish finish as the prep to paint them is bead blasting / acid dip etch

I note that MWS now offer these 6.5" x 17" aluminium rim with stainless spokes and centre for Plus 4 and Roadster. A snip at £1500 inc. each scared

Note that one of the OE options for Roadsters, the 7J x 16" stainless wires no longer seem to be available from MWS although MR seem to have them still, at £1049 inc.!

Image, my stainless wires were painted from new in 2011. Rims, hubs & spokes are all good.
BUT the spoke nuts have all rusted & are quite “crusty”.

Icepack ... seems odd to go to the trouble and expense of stainless spokes and rims and have non-stainless spoke-nuts ... the one place prone to chafing. ... ship and ha'porth of tar comes to mind.

Many thanks for everyone replies. About 12 years ago i did get my wire wheels blasted, painted by Tudor Wheels. But i have seen some stainless wheels and the good thing about them is fit and forget. As Calypso Red.states above Chrome wires are a disaster. They rust and are uneconomical to re-chrome, that was the reason why the wheels were blasted etc. But the wheels are not cheap! This is something that will need special consideration.

Warning: don’t use auto glym wheel cleaner on your stainless rims as it leaves stains that cannot be removed. Luckily, I realised after having done the inside only of one wheel!
