That’s good, but what about the flow of the coolant through the engine?

The fan should cut in before the warning light comes on, not after.

The fan thermostat needs adjusting or replacing in the first instance.

Well I think I solved it.... (fingers crossed).

Yesterday while driving the errors popped back up - sometimes they would clear on their own (weird), then I got a NEW error about the battery (really weird), the idle has been erratic as has starting it...

This morning I checked all the wiring harness and terminal connections and found the negative was a little loose. About 2.5 turns of a screwdriver loose. Certainly not falling off - but I think tightening this has worked!

Are there two radiator fans?

Well im sad to report, the loose ground fixed the start up issue, and the motor is running strong - but sadly - still getting the temp warning.

I hear the fan spool up so I know it works - so maybe cooling system issue or thermostat... would like to get to the bottom of it before hot Houston summer.

Yes, we have been working over email. Im going to try a call tomorrow. When I did the oil change, i was just a bit above the dipstick mark - drained out 200cc and its just below, so it wasnt massively overfilled. I can't imagine this would made a difference, but ... trying everything I can.

It not going to be the oil and sounds more like a thermostat or temperature sensor issue rather than overheating as if it was too hot it wouldn't clear as soon as the fan kicked in.

If you get hold of an infra red thermometer and leave the car idling you can check the temp of a convenient radiator or hose. if it's around 190 - 200F the cooling is OK.
