We were on Shell Energy who are taken over by Octopus. I was looking at this tariff as we have pv solar and batteries. Has anyone tried it and does it save money? The calculation is not easy as we loose the export part of the FIT but my man maths says it should work

I had a look at this but it doesn't come anywhere near what I am getting just now with the FiT. I was lucky as we got the panels when the rate was at its highest,

I think it's encouraging Octopus offer a scheme customised specifically to those with solar and batteries. Do any other suppliers offer similar?
Been with this supplier for several years now. Their web facilities do offer a wide range of data and plenty of interaction with their customers including pop up energy saving periods during the winter for generous cash rewards. Haven't seen what's currently available from others though.
With only one energy source supplemented by 3kW of solar (no batteries) we have recently switched tariffs to pay fixed monthly amount as one of their "loyal customers", allowing 25p/unit whilst retaining the 15p/unit FIT.

There are multiple tariffs, it can get a little confusing as to what to switch to we are on the low end of the FIT payments but Good Energy wrote to us last year that at the end of this month the deemed export is going and only going to be actual export - not sure if other FIT providers will be the same. These are the solar only export tariffs you can take up with Octopus https://octopus.energy/export-tariffs/These are the various smart tariffs including Flux https://octopus.energy/octopus-smart-tariffs/These are the differing combinations you can choose https://octopus.energy/help-and-faq...iff-can-i-combine-with-my-import-tariff/As to what to choose - do you want to select and forget like with Flux or do you wish to take advantage with AGILE import and export taking a risk and altering according to the upcoming rates, bare in mind some modern in home tech can adjust to the flexible Agile tarrifs for you. There are multiple Octopus comparison apps that can pull your usage data from your Octopus account and compare your historical usage accross the different tariffs to see what works best for you. Some people have made hundreds of pounds playing the system importing at normal rates and deliberately emptying their batteries when the export rates are high. I am a little wary of switching at the moment as historically you do one thing and then they change the usage benefits to fit in with particular equipment that you have.

We are on economy 7 at the moment, which has lower price off peak than Flux and are exporting when the weather is right. But Octopus cant read our meter reliably so we can't take advantage of any of their tariffs that need 1/2 hourly readings including the better export tariff of 15p. Our PV/battery system is new this year so we don't have any FIT. We are waiting for their meter team to get in touch to sort the meter out! We have only had to top up the battery a couple of times overnight in the last 10 days or so.

Good luck with that. I don't have a smart meter so applied but the silence 3weeks on is total. So far as I can see their CS sucks

If you need to contact the metering team I have the number. I'll be using it next week if I haven't heard by then.

I'm following this with interest as we may be moving to a new house with quite a large PV system already fitted, we're intending porting our current Octopus deal so we don't get hit with exit penalties, but this will just be for import supplies. I think current export the vendor uses is Brit Gas (but my past experience of BG is tainted with disappointment)
