Hi all,
I recently got delivery of my new Morgan. 2023 Plus Four. Previously I have owned a 1998 +8.
I just been told that I am not allowed to use the power supply to a trickle charger that I had planned to use. So I guess I have to disconnect the battery instead. At least during winter.
Will it result in problems if I disconnect the battery? Anyone here have experience? Is there experience in how long a car can be left standing before the battery is drained?
Best regards

You should always connect charger directly to battery. Many chargers provide a short lead with eyelets for permanent battery connection, allowing charger or maintainer to be simply plugged in when needed. You do not need to disconnect battery in any case.
My Roadster is good for at least a month without charge although I rarely leave it that long, preferring to use it. I do give it an overnight top up charge every couple of months though.

I use a Banner trickle charger on my 2023 Plus Six without issue using the banner supplied connectors to connect directly to the battery. PM me if you would like a photo of the dealer installed installation.

You can leave the car for 2 months without having to recharge it.

Hi all,

Best regards I think Bjorn is saying he cannot plug a battery conditioner into a mains power source, so recommending he charges the battery through winter isn't much help!

If you have real problems with the battery going flat, long term Bjorn, it may be worth looking at this - Optimate DC to DC 12v chargerA bit of a pricey option but this would allow you to charge your battery from another 12V battery which you could then take home to recharge when necessary. I've not used it myself but others who have no access to a mains power supply (e.g.using a 'lock - up' garage) have used it with great success..... James

James Interesting I did not know that such a thing existed. Will look it up if I get problems. Thank you for the tip. Björn

I use a Ctech on my 2023 Plus Four. I fitted the Ctech leads direct to the battery so a simple plug in to connect. Lift the bonnet and easy. No problems since car arrived last July. I did similar on the Plus8 previous car and no issues for 10 years until the battery eventually failed. Odyssey battery that was on the car when bought so at least 10 years life.

See this recent thread, I use a Ctek MXS 5.0 on my 2023 PlusFour, connection installed by the dealer and Ctek supplied by the dealer. Works fine and easy! https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/797776/re-battery-conditioner#Post797776
