Dear Morgan Family,
Is it possible to change an +8 3,94L 1997 rover engine in Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG Autogas Power? Where is then the Gas Tank?

It was done in the USA. The tank replaces the petrol tank.

And the koldstart? The engine begins with benzin and switch after about 2km to LPG. So the engine needs a little bezin tank.

Some info here on US Morgan +8's. It suggests early injected models were converted to run on LPG as well with no mention of petrol start.

The propane powered Morgans do not have a different starter motor and then swap over, the engines are either run on gasoline or propane the tanks are swapped out along with other bits and bobs. There are still some propane powered Moggies over here but the majority have been converted back to gasoline as it is a way more convenient fuel.

I remember at one stage looking at LPG for C class Merc. In those days in the UK you lost the boot space to propane but the car was dual fuel. You could start it on either. I didn't think the pay back was good enough.

There is no dual fuel. Only Propane or Gasoline. The propane tank is where the normal gasoline tank would go. The spare does fit higher on the Propane car as the wooden bracketry is removed and the spare wheel mounts directly to the propane tank.

I have converted a good number of US (Bill Fink) propane cars to Gasoline. Both Plus 8s and 4/4s. Not all that difficult. The hardest part is creating the wooden bracketry for the spare wheel.

Cheers,
Mark

I had a land rover than I had converted to LPG - it was much cheaper than petrol and I could get a comparable mpg to petrol so paid for itself in 12 months.

I had twin underseat petrol tanks (ex MOD) and the lpg tank was in the rear bed. Gave me a great range, and removed the anxiety of finding an lpg station to top up (there were four near home, work, or mid commute). However, at least 3 of them are now gone.

There are plenty of kits out there for both carb and efi models. Tank wise, you could go for a toroidal tank which would fit where the spare wheel should go, or a small custom made petrol tank next to a small lpg tank.
