But a quick primer on starting after a bit of a layup:

Unless you have a non S&S ECU then there's no need to disconnect plug leads etc to turn the engine over without starting. Just depress the accelerator then hit the start button. The engine will turn over but ECU will not allow the engine to fire unless the throttle is closed.

I modified the way for the oil line recycling which is connected behind the original air filter model .
I send it below the engine And installed a little air filter on the end line which avoid to suck dust on the ground when you stop engine.

If you are going to go to the trouble of rerouting the oil vent line from the crankcase, here is another solution to consider:

https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/672868/re-breathing-without-slobbering#Post647169

This mod was originally conceived to eliminate oil residue build up in the intake manifold, but is also useful to eliminate oil burping up from the crankcase during a cold start after a longish layup.

That is a very good tip.

so the "sump issue" the x wedge has an external sump.... fine and dandy!... But the X-wedge is not a modern engine. Oil from the external sump leaks past the seals and ends up in the bottom of the x-wedge (mine fills up with at least 1.5 quarts). when you start the engine this gets forced up through the vent system into the intake (and also back to the external sump.

REALLY stupid way to configure an engine... but heck! it is a MORGAN

Mine no longer does that, it just pumps the oil back into the tank.

The X wedge was designed in the 21rst century (~2010) in Wisconsin, USA. Say what you want about it, but the fundamental design is solid. Any issues the 'engine' has is down to the choices made by Morgan as they adapted it for their particular (and peculiar) installation.
