After examination, my paint guy thinks it looks pretty straightforward to go body-off. With his experience restoring cars built over the last 100+ years, I trust his judgment. So, his schedule permitting, we'll undertake it in the next six weeks or so, and I'll do my best to get some photo documentation that lives up to standards! The photo of the worn wiring convinces me that it's really the way to go.
