As John V6 said, us Centre Secretaries knew this was coming but were sworn to secrecy because MSCC didn't want their (then) partners knowing about it beforehand. Insurance is much more than just about the premium, it's as much about the service you get when you make a claim. I had a major claim a few years ago and Gott & Wynn were brilliant, I couldn't fault them and they made the whole process, including transport from France back to the UK, painless. My insurance comes up for renewal next month so I'll get a comparative quote from Peter James then, they'd have to be a good bit cheaper than G&W for me to consider changing but from the sounds of it that'll be unlikely.

.. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2024/04/03/IMG_9206.jpeg) My insurance is also due and I am having to send six pictures plus £25.. to get the agreed value. Is there any point in doing this? or is it just another revenue stream for insurance companies ? Has anyone on this site had a claim for agreed value? and would it be any different from market value? I am having to send six pictures plus £25.. to get the agreed value. The six photos is standard, I have not been charged £25 (thus far) by any insurance company. It is my understand that the six photos show condition of the vehicle and allow the underwriter to justify the agreed value that you wish to place on the vehicle. If they are in agreement with said value (sometimes justified further by an 'expert' opinion (car club, respected dealer, etc), they will agree the agreed value; however, and without wishing to state the obvious, you will pay for this in your annual premium. Thus, charging for this process does seem strange to me because the increase in cost to the owner compensates for an underwriter looking at the photos of your car. It feels like an admin charge for something that is part of what you are paying for in your premium.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, I have just saved £260 on my renewal going from Headly/Finch to Peter James. PS used Scenic Car Tours many times and they have always been very good including a breakdown in Spain. Not difficult to save money swopping away from Finch, it's a little known fact that when they took over Headley they didn't want Mogs & Classics for whatever reason, so started to bump up renewals to encourage us to bu66er off elsewhere, they also tweaked the original T&C's to be more onerous, like theft with the hood down clauses

G&W ... no mileage limit, no 'hood up doors locked' clause ... can't remember exactly but in the £200s for a '75 crossflow 4 seater ... didn't go for the agreed value as it meant a 300 mile round trek to a dealer to give it the once-over (but happy to add that later if I wanted)
