One possibility could be to rent the ring for threewheelers only, say for one hour or so.

Having completed quite a few laps of the place in my Mog over the years, I'm rather disappointed to read about this. The Nordschleife is a very dangerous place in any car in the wrong situation/conditions/frame-of-mind and missing a wheel is the least of most folks problems with the place.

The Nordschleife is a public road, which is why 3rd party insurance cannot be withdrawn via small print on an EU car policy on account of it being too dangerous (although Fully Comp cover can be reduced to 3rd party only if the insurance company so insists)...... for the same reasons that insurance companies can't say that the M6 between junctions 19 and 20 on a wet Monday is not covered. It's just a German road.

So I suspect that it might be possible for that decision to be challenged in Germany, unless they have had a formal reclassification of the road to deny access to tricycles, which I suspect they haven't. The unique aspect of the Nordschleife is that it is a public road, which is how it's managed to survive in the way it has since 1927. Whilst the Nurburgring Gmbh may run it like a track day, it isn't in fact a track.

Which is a rather rambling way of saying that I'm grumpy about it really!

Any Germans on here care to comment?

Possibly the pit lane is private? "You can drive on the ring of course, but we won't let you get to it!"

Or maybe someone read "Experience the most beautiful, longest, most challenging, and most travelled racecourse in the world on your own two or four wheels" and thought that was regulation in true Napoleonic law style! [from http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/home.html]

Any updates on this sad issue? confused2

Did anyone of you successfully drive his M3W around the Nordschleife during Touristenfahrten recently?

(Maybe they have lifted their stupid threewheeler ban again.) doh

If so, how did you handle insurance?

My Allianz Exoten insurance says NO! nono
Trackdays would be okay at extra costs, but no Touristenfahrten.

No, three wheelers are no longer allowed, it is specified in the small print on their website. Here https://nuerburgring.de/info/company/gtc/driving-regulations

Yes, I have read this before. Banning "Trikes" does not necessarily include M3Ws.

Therefore my question: did anyone try it recently?

We were refused access in 2018 because we were trikes.
