Yesterday’s St David’s Day Run..... Started from near Monmouth with RDV points en route. We joined in St Clears, west of Carmarthen rather than M4 Services at Penllergaer near Swansea, that meaning a drive in the wrong direction. Turned out to be a good choice! RDV St C was by Travel lodge/Starbucks. We arrived in plenty of time so in for a coffee and met another couple there, the last two cars from a total of 10. Then a phonecall. The others were stuck on the A48 approach to Carmarthen Pensarn roundabout. Yesterday there was a fatal rtc that took out the traffic lights so tailbacks. We got through from a different direction easily. Hour and a half stuck due to traffic queue and no alternative exit. We had another coffee while waiting. Journey onwards on the A40 was ok but roadworks slowed things, Robeston Wathen by-pass still being built ( delays caused by poor admin stopping work whilst land buying payments were not made so legal action under way) rain/hail showers but from Newgale it cleared up. Light lunch in the refectory in the Cathedral. The delays meant a change of plan from then. Some travelled home, a few of us went to Llandovery for a meal in the King’s Head. We had to divert to pop home before meeting there. So, next problem for the rest was closure of the A482 for resurfacing. Another detour for them so we arrived at the pub just before them. Nice food then drive home. It was good meeting some new people who were on their first runs down West. Also saw Denis in his new Plus Six, replacement for his S1 Aero. Tentative plans for more runs made for this year so more exploring to find new places planned. There aren’t many left these days but should be fun exploring. A big DOH! Though, no photos! Must do better.

Sopan, that reads like a stressful run, road works, fatal accidents, diversions not to mention 20mph through villages and towns is there much point in us over the border coming into Wales anymore? The politicians have done a good job to deter us, maybe that's the plan.🤔

No stress. Delays worked round. Just a bit of bad luck. The Pensarn roundabout is a known chokepoint but there are alternatives to avoid it. Just bad luck this time for those delayed and missing turn offs to leave the A48. There was only one roadworks with a delay, the others no big deal. We all had a laugh anyway. Don’t overthink the 20mph issue as there are still many roads ok. Local knowledge is a big help. Cross the border? Feel free but more room for us here if you don’t

Top up run out today in the rain over the Preseli mountain to Gwbert then the coast road to Newport and back over the mountain. Not many cars and no traffic lights pure bliss and we were bone dry inside the Mog which is a new experience for us......Em

Top down run out today two car's cross country to Aberaeron, new lock gates being fitted to the inner harbour and sea defence work if you know the little village. Nice sunny weather for a change with quiet roads and back to Cenarth falls where they did the iconic Timotei advert years ago and home. The three windscreen wipers never moved can't quite believe it....Em
