I haven't used my 92 4/4 for a few months , CVH injection engine, while checking it over I find the water in the expansion tanks feels thick and greasy and I wonder if i have a major problem it starts and runs ok and doesn't overheat. The dip stick shows full with no water droplets on it so.possibly not a head gasket.
Any ideas please or does it just need a good flush out and new antifreeze. It was changed about 3 years ago.
Thanks. Ken.

Is it possible there was some incompatible antifreeze lurking in the engine last time it was changed? ... not enought to gel or cause overheating, but enough to thicken the coolant ... maybe you're just noticing it now because you haven't stuck your finger in the expansion tank before?? 🙂

CVH engines should use old style Glycol antifreeze which will feel 'greasy', at 3 years old a flush and renew is due anyway

Thanks guys, I will get some new antifreeze and give it a good flushing through first.
