(Fixed the image addresses (as in "right-clicked >> "show photo" - it seems it opens as a page, not as an image, hence this workaround.)

Thanks, Krod, those pictures still has me wondering.

Jacking at the rear varies a bit on trad three wheelers, but as a rule it's pretty simple.

My guess is you put a jack under the bevel box, or its supports and raise till the wheel drops such that the securing nuts or bolt can be removed. There's no removable side panel on the new three wheeler so the wheel would need to drop lower than on mine.

A low trolley jack should have no problem.

I was a bit confused with one of my photos of the back wheel...looked like a drum brake but Krod's pictures show a disc brake.

Jay, sorry...I should have mentioned. My photos are early preproduction and prior to the belt enlargement, etc. I was posting them as they are the best images I have on file of the locations and how hard the tire is to access. Off your photos, things seem to be easier to get to, if only slightly. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Krod...... the pics I took were in December. The method of adjusting the belt tension has changed from a cam to screw I see as well. I'm still confused over the rear brake...there is nothing on the M3W website about the braking system. Your photos very clearly show a ventilated disc whilst my photo suggests either a drum or cleverly concealed disc brake!!

Wow, it seems that whenever I can gather a tidbit from something, another thing is changed on this thing -- I mean, it seems it's easier getting to the bolt on this later, wide-belted version, but then there's the safety belt brace (!!) and what appears to either be a drum brake or some heatshield needed because of the proximity to the petrol tank. A drum brake? On something like this? I hope it's not a drum.

I am so looking forward to a somewhat finalised product. And I hope it's not a threewheeled equivalent to the DeLorean where the final product was overweight, underpowered and didn't work as intended.

AQM, I wouldnt get too caught up in the little things until it actually comes out. I doubt this will come out like the DeLorean other than the fact of it being high priced.

Plenty of people have testdriven the thing and have sent out raving reviews about it. Maybe someone who has been to the factory recently can talk to the rear brake.

I'd not be too bothered myself. The back brake on a three wheeler does not want to be too good. Admittedly with a far narrower tyre, but having locked the back on mine at less than 30mph, it is a brown trouser moment. Whilst an excess of power is controllable, a rear wheel skid is uncontrollable on one of these.

The braking effort distribution could easily be 80% front, 20% rear on this design.

Provided the arrangement can cope with the heat produced, no problem.

Actually, I was thinking that too much heat in a drum brake might lock it up, and consider where the brake is situated, a disc would be a better option, imo. You can get disc brakes that doesn't work like an on-off switch laugh2

I would have thought the rear drum brake would be to accommodate a mechanical handbrake.

This is more difficult with a hydraulic disk, requiring a piggyback caliper or similar for the cable operated handbrake
