Has anyone had a fuel pump to tank gasket fail? No, but some of the gaskets on the level sender don't seem to be resistant to exotic chemicals like, say, petrol.

Has anyone had a fuel pump to tank gasket fail? I've not had a problem with this gasket, but I have had the weld between the alloy filler tube and the tank fail. Took quite a while to find that one!

That seems to be ok with mine. And I do not get fuel leaks when normal filling but only on over fill.

Glencoe now send out this info with the Walbro M3W kit. Seems that dipping the hose ends in boiling water doesn't do the trick! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/01/20/Glencoe-Walbro-Instructions.png) Many thanks to Bob for passing the sheet on to me.

I recently had this job done by a local independent motorcycle mechanic. He is generously taking on some of the work on my Morgan, never having worked on one before, Since he also spends a bit of time on a pit team for some racing group out of Detroit, he is quite proficient. He recently replaced my original fuel pump at 5400 miles. When he purchased it he was able to source the entire kit except for the BMW seal part number from a supplier. In the kit he got for the job that convoluted tube was already fit to the fuel pump.
On a side note, I cannot believe how much difference this made to the throttle response and overall engine performance. It’s subtle but there is a big difference when I accelerate, and after starting the engine has not thrown a ECU warning at all. It had gotten so bad I left a USB cord attached and coiled up in the interior to delete the warnings after my rides.
I’ll try to get the specific part numbers and supplier for the Alternative Parts List for all the USA owners. The entire job cost me about what the parts with tariffs :-( would have been from the UK or Europe. About $550 total. :-)

Good to hear the installation all went well. The improvements to the performance will probably continue for awhile as the ECU maps adapt to a fuel pump with the correct delivery pressure. Did your mechanic reset the adaptive maps after installation of the pump? You should not be getting a "check engine" light normally in use and I suspect the fuel pump has been the main cause, you have probably been getting lots of P0170 or P0173 "adaptive maxed out" warnings. Hopefully a thing of the past now.

Completely eliminated the P0170 and P0173 warnings. I could very well be wrong about this but I thought the maps cleared when the engine in shutdown and maps were auto tuned after start. IF not please correct my assumption and I’ll get the windows laptop out ASAP and do that.
Thanks, Will

The Map tunes dynamically when in operation, and the adapted map remain in memory until the battery is disconnected, at which point the adaptive map is lost and the ECU returns to its OEM setting. The only way to retain the adapted map is to have an unlocked ECU, which allows you to replace the OEM base map with the adapted one.
