Having just changed to 15 inch wheels on my 1977 plus 8, I'm a bit bemused by the size of the wheel studs on the rear wheels. The don't seem sufficiently long to extend fully through the wheel nut. In fact, they only engage with about 50% of the internal thread of the wheel nut. This clearly is unacceptable.

Is this a bit short? Does anyone know the dimensions of the stud ? (I see they are available at BHM and MR but they seem very expensive).

The previous wheels had the solid version of the wheel nut, so the amount of thread engagement was never visible.

Sorry can't help 7 X 16" Centrelock alloys here.

My 72 has M14 x 1.5 thread wheel studs (although it is 4 stud, not 5).

According to this website, you should have about 9.5 turns of the nut

Dave, I seem to remember that they are7/16ths unf. you can get longer replacements from some of the fast ford rally shops. they are stronger and cheaper than from morgan. They are the same size as the early escorts.

The chap is called Tim, and he recently helped out another Plus 8 owner I know (1987 car) who needed nuts and those difficult to find inserts for the alloy wheel stud holes
