Her time on this earth must have been quite staggering. Having lived through that and the cold war years she must have looked at some of the things in the current governments and press and wondered where it all went wrong.

Earlier today in Normandy, 47 Commando Royal Marines made their way to the beach from a landing craft to begin a ‘yomp’ across the fields to their commemorative event in Port-en-Bassin to pay tribute to their forebears.

Richard thanks for that picture. That is a modern LC Vehicle they are disembarking from here is a picture of my Troop in a good old LC Personnel back in the 70s.

It's amazing the changes she lived through and I suspect she often wondered what the heck happened..

To be fair Rich, they would have needed their passports before Brexit as we weren't in the Schengen zone ... just a bit of stirring on the part of the journalists not to point that out.

Having recently moved into a quiet village (from a big city) we thought we'd go the the village hall D Day event, they had a local brass band playing 40's music including some Glen Miller that always reminds me of my Uncle, followed by one of the band playing the Last Post and a reading which was timed to coincide UK wide with the lighting of beacons.
