Does anyone know where the factory sourced the front hubs for the early (cantilever) versions of the Aero from ?
I see that they are splined internally so must have been used elsewhere on a front wheel drive car....
I'm also trying to work out where the lower ball joints come from - they look very similar to some BMW examples.

Hi Ambrose - can't help I'm afraid but it would be good to know where the ball joints are from. Sifab used to offer a replacement service and maintained that the ball joints came from the USA - but was unwilling to disclose further info. Sadly, he is no longer in business (a great loss to the Aero 8 owners....) If you do find out any info. please post it up.....  James[b][/b]

Thanks James - I have found a couple of Mercedes ball joints parts that look very similar - I'll post info if I come up with anything... as it happens, I live only 3 miles from Mulfab so will also ask there...

Ah...
Got in touch with ASMetal - they only supply direct to Morgan. But I'm not giving up. I'll take the measurements and look elsewhere.

Bit more info - it looks like the balljoint is imperial: 1 3/4" diameter and 5/8" thread (hence why it may be more readily available in the USA and the size is less likely to suit European cars). I've found one with similar dimensions on the web and have ordered it to see if it's the same.

- sounds promising Ambrose. I have been told that the ball joints are from an early Dodge Viper but, also, told that they are fairly specialist and used exclusively on American Nascar applications. Any suitable ball joint found then needs to be bonded into the aluminium carrier (I think Sifab used 'Araldite' or similar?) Either way, it's all a bit of a laborious process for a part that inevitably wears out over time..... James

Keep the faith James, it's the uncertainty got me in the end and some people who clearly have the information's unwillingness to share knowledge with others. You seem half way there with this one and its a biggy for keeping the Aero on the road good luck on sourcing the parts. Em

Due to COVID (near the end) I took the S2 to a BMW dealer for a quick check over and oil change.
The engineer was able to recognize many BMW parts in the suspension and brakes etc around the front and rear. Might be worth poking about in their parts book or go and see a local BM dealer and take it with you, or some good video/photo's on your phone?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
