This might seem a silly question when ordering parts which is the left side as i have the passengers side exhaust bracket which commonly breaks.. So will the one i need MXC00961 Left hand or MXC00951.Right hand. Thanks Simon Wright

On a right hand drive car the passenger side would be left and parts attributable to that side would be labelled left hand.

Yes, agree with Richard. Don't think it makes any difference whether car is left hand drive or right hand drive. Left and right are viewed from sitting in a seat looking towards the front of the car.
However, “near side” and “off side” would be different depending on whether left or right drive.

Has anyone else had these brackets break; I believe they're a weak point on series 4 and 5

It seems Simon there is confusion in the parts books given these brackets were used for the standard rear exit exhaust system in some shape or form throughout the Aero range.

Below from a general Aero parts book, the exhaust brackets are shown in two parts (7 and 8) with the seemingly most fragile MXC00200, to which the rubber hanger attaches, common to both left and right.

On this diagram from Aero mk 2 book it shows the handed parts (17) under the same numbers, as a single unit bolted to chassis confused2

To add further confusion part numbers for left and right are reversed doh

Can you have broken parts re-welded to give a more substantial bracket, or if available buy a new bracket noting above and have it strengthened before fitting?

My exhaust bracket has broken twice now on my Aero 8, I took it off and went down to a local metal works and they welded it and reinforced it with more metal, all good now...
