Just been down Pendine beach hundreds of cars parked on the sand and the village gridlocked with parking on one side of the road stretching about a mile. The event has got very popular which is nice to see but decided not to take the Mog on the sand as the slipway sometimes has a drop depending on the shifting sands. Lots of the cars look a bit rough to say the least and bareley road legal. Hope it stays dry for them its become a bit of a Mecca if your a Hot Rodder. Em

Sounds good, was there a bit of a Steampunk vibe going on, that would tie in with the deliberately rusty vehicles.

You're much more likely to see the 'Ratrod Squad'at beach races rather than the 'Chrome and Metalflake' crew both for the obvious reason and that the ratrodders are happier to put miles on their cars

I’ve been to a couple of these but can’t make this weekend. A whole range of cars from fully built and finished hot rod to Rat rods. Some innovative builds too. Many didn’t have exhaust manifolds let alone exhaust systems. The sounds were incredible. There’s the museum there too where Babs is housed plus displays of the bike racing that went on there. Last time I went in there was a Brough Superior Pendine bike in a case on loan for display. Before Covid we went to see Bluebird and the Napier Railton do runs. Not full speed as the sand conditions weren’t good at the time. Cars that compete come on trailers or driven. Some were “ possibly not road legal” but still driven. The Grist ( square) in Laugharne is a decent spot to watch then drive through post event. The Fountain pub front garden. www.vhra.co.uk

Pendine certainly came alive for a few days but sadly will now go back to being a drive through destination serviced only bye the large caravan site with very few people on the beach at any given time. We travel through at least once a week and stop very rarely but if you know the history there 's something atmospheric about the place a bit like Brooklands. Thousands of people will have happy memories driving on their Dads lap or their first drive as a teen our kids certainly do. Em
