Being fun at legalish speeds really matters to me. I have to say we passed 3 Morgans on the trip and the roads were incredible with many fantastic hotels for those not in a motorhome.

Have to admit im my circa 22 years of my Morgan ownership I have only used it to go to the shops on a couple of occasions.

Our first of 3 European adventures was down to the LM 24hrs in 2002, after which we toured a bit of Normandy..

The next Summer holiday trip was again to Europe and from Santander down to Andalusia using Los Romanes as a base and roaming around Southern Spain, took in part of Portugal on the journey back North.

Our last trip was from the Chunnel down through the length of France on into Italy down to Sorrento, used as a base for a few days and to drive the Amalfi coast road at dawn.. For sure there would be more comfortable machines to take on such trips, but the sense of adventure doing so in a Morgan, made for life long memories. Also a Morgan makes a great calling card when visiting foreign parts... smile

I have a 1964 Plus 4 4 seater. Wasn’t looking for one but it was the car that made the most sense in my budget. I’ve grown to love having that extra space to carry things. I keep my tonneau over the seat and whatever is on it. Protects it from the sun.

The two seaters from that era all use the same chassis and body tub. The difference in width is how the wings are cut to cover the three widths of wire wheels and one width of alloys.

So choice of two seater doesn't affect space behind the seats. However the 3.7 Roadster has a larger transmission tunnel, and although the factory added a small flare to the outer footwell panels, the footwells are marginally tighter.

Four seaters are much rarer, but obviously a lot more space behind the seats, meaning that luggage can be carried inside.

I've always liked the look of a 4 seater.
There are some bargains about because they are a small niche within the small niche world of Morgans.
I saw that Allon White had a 3.7 4 seater, that must be incredibly rare. It'd be as fast as the 997 and probably more practical.

I don't pick it up till Thursday & don't have a dog. The space is smaller than my Roadster & you have seen Richard's dog Leo fits. Hawki has a CX and a dog, maybe he will comment.

P.S. one of the greatest joys of Morgan ownership is at the end of a run on a holiday drinking a beer and giving advice to 4 seater owners as they erect the big top.

I have a 1980 +8 owned 40+ years and a manual 996 Turbo. For +8 have a luggage rack for when I need to carry more stuff and it's one I had made that sits low over the rear bumper and doesn't obscure rear view. I am not sure a 4 seater is your answer.

You make good points. There’s a lot to think about and some test drives. Certainly when you take practicality out of the equation a 2011 Super Sport becomes a very exciting prospect.
