Thanks Richard. She has to zigzag in to the pier at Clevedon. Hazy day, Monmouthshire coast in the backgound. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/06/07/Waverley_Vlux_66-6-2024-3.jpg)

Nice to see images of the various paddle steamers. I suspect Waverley`s claim to fame was that she was the last ocean going paddle steamer in the world, which may still be the case unless someone knows differently...?
I think I may have typed before that I sailed out of Oban on her on a trip to circumnavigate Staffa and see Fingals cave and as we did so mendelssohn`s hebrides overture was played over the tannoy system..

We visited Oban etc last spring by Morgan. Our tour of the islands was not quite as romantic as doing it by steamer but we loved it.

GREAT that you enjoyed your visit to my part of the world Peter, I hope the weather was reasonably kind. Some decades back my good lady and I steamed out of Oban on the Waverly and circumnavigated Staffa ,which I think is part of the annual Waverly schedule.. https://waverleyexcursions.co.uk/plan-your-cruise/timetables/

The Oldenburg is a fine old girl wallows a bit in the chop. If you ever go to Lundy try and pick a calm day and make a dash for the seating it's well worth a trip.

Thanks Em. Might do it one day. Bit of wallowing doesn't bother me - 15 years at sea, never suffered

Sue and I had a very enjoyable trip on Kingswear Castle all those years ago Richard. This pair popped up this morning Graham, 1949 and yesterday sailing by it's namesake .. Good to see a freighter moored up midstream, they still used to bring timber into Totnes up until the 90's which we miss, just cruise liners now in a commercial sense. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/07/13/1949.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/07/13/2024.jpg)
