I can't see that any camber change would make a difference to tyres contacting springs. The stub axle turns and slides on kingpin so the spring surrounding it would remain in same relative position to wheel irrespective of camber change achieved by adjusting kingpin lower mount.

I'm with Arwyn and grumpypa

That'll be exactly what has gone on. There are different size off-set rims and it looks like a set were bought without too much thought to fitment requirements!

You're right in that there is not much adjustment but your car may well have had a mod to dial out the positive camber that older vehicles had as standard. at that time they were setting them in a neutral position from the standard positive camber and this wouldn't help as it would tip the top of the wheel inboard. Have a look at the bottom tube ends of the cross head where the hub is bolted on, you might see the mounting point has been changed. Perhaps the cross head has been replaced (often the subject of accident damage) or the top mount plate has been lengthened, in any event something is amiss as that is wrong but the reason will become apparent with investigation and measuring every thing. I should be able to find some appropriate chassis, crosshead schematics which are age appropriate but the heritage guys at MSCC would be a good starting point, worth joining if you are not yet a member, especially for parts advice and tech knowledge of what the cars should have fitted!

When I was trying to fit slightly wider tyres to my old 4/4 with stainless wire wheels, I was concerned about the tyre rubbing on the top bracket and not wanting to buy new wheels I spoke to MWS and they said they can sometimes adjust the spoke settings to gain a few mm and move the offset slightly.

It all depends on how the spokes are currently set up but it might be worth having a word with MWS to see f they could tweak the offset for you.

I guess it's possible that other wire wheel specialists might be able to do this as well.

In the end I sold the car so I don't have any hard evidence that this will work but maybe worth a shot if you're only looking for a few mm.

1958 was a transition year. Depending on when in the year..exactly how today works with the modern cars. Your car would either have 5.25x16s or 550 x 15s. As you presently
have 15 inch wheels. I will assume the later..but to be sure you should contact the MMC for your original build sheet. Be careful, they now charge enormously for them, when
they used to fax the info for free in a couple of minutes anywhere in the word.
Times change. Perhaps we can match your VIN number to another car made concurrently.
VIN #? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...=1&gid=1849462628#gid=1849462628then just email
a few until you find one with your wheels. I am merely taking the originals information of the cars from the MMC records I have.

60 spoke wire wheels were available from 1958 to 1969 as an option. Though 60 spokes go out of true if you stare at them too intently. The later 72 spokes are more solid.
But today's owners, though they love their wire-wheel look, rarely take the few minutes to true them either! [b]Adjustable wire wheels were made for racers as they could
be corrected track-side!
Harder to so with an alloy wheel. innocent Need a 30 tone press which is harder to put in a tool box than a tuning fork and wire wheels adjuster.

Yes. I imagine it is. New tyres rub on the the winds. Morgan production 2006-2019) often forgot to install the steering limiter. https://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/steeringstop.jpg.
Causes rubbing on the front of the wings.

Neither than will change anything. A better suspension or tight wheel bearings do not correct the sadness of the very wrong tyres.

Essentially you are using a too large (wider) tyre. That will also change the glorious Morgan handling and we do not know about your wire wheels yet.

Be well. Sorting Morgans is a fun hobby .

It's difficult to get a worthwhile image of the sidewall clearance to the upper spring mount, but I managed it. This is 2016 Narrow Plus 4 so 4/4 stainless wires, with 185/70s. I hope that it gives a realistic illustration.

Nearside (apologies for the crazy angle)......

I don't claim to be an expert, and it might be the camera optics.......but the curvature of your tyre sidewall just looks wrong to me. My wires/tyres don't look anything like that. I had to remind myself about tyre/wheel combinations and what can go wrong, for example https://www.rimringz.com/tire-too-wide-or-too-narrow/. What size are your wheels ? There should be a size stamp somewhere on the rim.

Narrow Plus 4's were delivered with 185/70 Avon CR6ZZs on 4/4 rims Peter.

I did try Blockleys but they rubbed the top mount.

So what is the considered opinion afer all this ? Is the offset wrong as was previously suggested ? Or some other explanation ?
