Hi everyone, I am new to both the forum and to Morgan ownership. Having tried several at the helpful Tim Ayres facility near Shaftesbury I saw a +4 four seat which came up for auction at a local classic car sale near me. 1995 2.0 Rover engines vehicle which the original owner had a turbo fitted. Typically as an auction I never had the chance to drive it before purchase but am relieved and grateful to say it is a very good drive only slightly bettered by a much later 3.0 V6 Tim let me try. However there is one problem the key set is missing the key that operates the drivers door, glove box and the two over reach latches that secure the back of the hood to the body work. The auction house is, sadly, proving chocolate fire guard on contacting the previous owner to see if they have the key(s) before I resort to locksmiths or a replacement lock set😱can anyone give me guidance to a possible solution by telling me the key type or other ingenious way I might overcome this problem. Have a look in the front of the owners hand book as the key numbers are usually listed in the info part about your car. Failing that contact Morgan directly and ask for them, if they are still original locks then you can get keys cut.

I never lock the doors and the glovebox of my PLUS 4 avoiding robber cutting the roof or opening the glovebox with a screwdriver. I made travels in Sicily and Italia without any problem.
A Morgan can be open very easily and I think that doors's key are not necessary (insurance perhaps?)

If the locks are all like the door locks on trads you should be able to jiggle them open without any trouble at all with any small penknife or nail file

Many thanks for your observation. I realise the security of the vehicle is no way dependent on the door lock. However, the problem really is the latches that secure the hood to the bodywork at the rear. If i can’t undo these then I cant remove the hood to fit the tonneau nor can the hood be properly tensioned, relying on the windscreen frame latches to do so.

I have today emailed both Morgan and Protex, the manufacturer of the latches, asking the chances of supply. The original owner had the foresight to make a note of (a) key number in the original owners manual being 7941. If anyone could be generous with their time to check to see if the have a key of this number I would happily cover costs of a duplicate, post and out of pocket if they were prepared to do so?! Will inform via this thread any progress made.

I meant undo them by jiggling. If you can't do it yourself speak to your local locksmith..theyll do it for you in ten seconds
