Potential new owner/buyer here, I am trying to make sense of where values are sitting for the earlier plus six models as having watched them for a wee while now I’m struggling to understand them to be honest!
For example - on the likes of Autotrader they seem to start in the high £50K’s. I also watched a very low mile 2021 car being auctioned on car and classic recently that only made £52K (wasn’t quite ready to buy at that stage or might have had a bid on that one myself!) albeit it didn’t meet reserve. Many that are on sale seem to have been sitting for some considerable time. I know the market is “realigning itself” in general for stuff like this and as such pretty brutal just now, but for such a low volume sports car Seems a massive differential between new/nearly new and say 3/4 year old - like £40K odd. Apologies if I’m treading on any toes here - it’s not my intent - just trying to get my head round things.

I cant say much about the prices as the market has changed somewhat, but what I can say as a mid 20's Plus Six owner is choose your Plus Six wisely, we purchased ours with just 800 miles on its clock, but it took almost 18 months of dealer and factory input to sort the car as it should have been when it left the factory. You need to look carefully and in some depth at the cars history, what has been done to it, have the radiators been changed, has it had the swirl pot fitted and the latest ECU changes etc, check the suspension as a few very early cars suspension sagged at the rear ( There is an excellent SSL upgrade for the suspension, but it will cost approx 2K£ fitted by a dealer ). If you want to go for a very low milage example make sure its covered by a good warranty, very low milage examples have not covered great distances, so their initial miles teething issues may not all have surfaced and you do not have factory warranty to sort them. The early cars from initial production to the end of 2020 were a bit hit and miss with their QC, some were absolutely fine, others less so. When you look at the car, check everything from the back to the front to make sure its all working as it should be. If you can take someone with you to look at the car that knows what to check on a Plus Six as another set of impartial eyes is a good thing when buying. From about mid 2020 things did start to slowly improve on the QC side. My comments should not put you off buying an early Plus Six, as its a great car, but you do need to make sure the one you purchase has been fully sorted.. A sorted Plus Six is a joy to drive, just treat the go switch with a little respect when its damp.. like riding a high bhp motorbike from the 80's.. We love our Plus Six and it always gives us many "smiles per mile" it will poodle along when touring or turn into a rocket when asked.. I honestly would not change it for the latest revision.

And there you have it the real value of Morgan ownership personified.. ^^^^^ It's only ever about buying a fully sorted car no matter the age imho. Good luck with your purchase and enjoy choosing, take someone with you who knows the CX well, reach out on here if needs be as there is a plethora of experience in the parish.

Im potentially in the market for a plusfour and am trying to figure out a "fair market value" I get that the dealers will always charge more than it could be re-sold for privately but over the months they dont appear to be selling. My main concern is that if for any reason I needed to sell it I might end up with a 30-40K loss. 2 year old cars are being listed for 70K at dealers but simply arnt selling and its the middle of the summer! Any thoughts on the current state of the market... Worth waiting until the depths of winter?! Cheers Dave

I would go for something like this one if I jumped as I don't think you would be in for a hit on the price if you needed to sell, proviso being the relevant upgrades have been done. If it had alloys I could have jumped on this one. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/07/30/pol.jpg)

I have been looking at this one and another couple similar at around 60K. Perhaps me overthinking but just over £1,000 miles in 3 years - is that because its been "grounded" getting fixed. I seems a very low mileage and its not alone.. Its been up for a while now too

You are probably right but that could mean you are inheriting a well sorted example as I said earlier in the thread.
There are some good bargains (relatively) and JohnV6 took full advantage and has been delighted with his.
I don't think the time of year has quite the same effect these days imho.
p.s. As the Auto box one's are the best suited to the cars performance this would be worth bearing in mind in terms of your enjoyment and resale values.
