Drove up to Reeth North Yorkshire yesterday from Chester via Skipton, Grassingdale and Leyburn, a hot sunny drive the Plus Six (first edition) drove Beautifully. Here for a week and looking forward to plenty more stunning drives.[Linked Image]

Yesterday I drove up to KH for a check over & to track down the annoying noises one of which was the exhaust hitting the tub. Louie & the team fixed that for me. The photo is a before one.

This was followed by lunch with Dean at his home village & a glorious drive back via Clare, Sudbury etc. I am really really enjoying the car & am like a kid with the S+ button.

Must be honest but the Sport+ button is also addictive for me! Nice to notice there's always that child in you..!!! love woohoo laugh2

Had a drive up to the Tan Hill pub, the highest pub in the country at over 1730 feet a.s.l., a slow drive up from Reeth in Swaledale, so many sheep on the road with no road sense!
The Tan Hill inn is a very interesting old pub but what a tourist trap with prices to match.[Linked Image]

That sounds like a lot of red tape. And it sounds like there is a possibility that MMC could prescribe some kind of repair that, for example, an experienced workshop could carry out in a completely different way? Or that a fault must first be approved as a fault? One can imagine many discussions... Is the clattering of the rear axle still acceptable, is the braking effect still sufficient, is the engine's ringing when accelerating still within the normal acceptable range, etc. etc. Not only the customers could be annoyed if everything gets the atmosphere of a petition. I am also thinking of the poor workshops that now have to formulate a description and submit an application for every warranty case.

And the point that Clemens mentioned... having to drive to the dealer twice for every repair... (if the car can still be driven at all) how long does it take for MMC to be so gracious as to send back a plan of action for the repair along with the authorization? So how much time between your two trips? Or, to put it another way, if the car is not roadworthy, how many more weeks do you have to wait before it can be repaired?

Does this procedure also apply to other brands? I have only experienced similar correspondence between the workshop and the manufacturer once, but well outside the warranty period. It was a very generously handled goodwill case without any costs for us, because the rear axle on our Mercedes E-Class estate car had rusted through after 12 years, and Mercedes replaced many axles for a lot of money so that there was no bad press.

Mercedes is one of the better examples of how co-ordination between a service dept. and manufacturer over a warranty issue. should work. My '93 E320 Cabriolet when only a few days old developed an intermittent fault which the service engineer traced to two wires rubbing against a metal tube (mine was the first UK delivery with this new security innovation) causing an exposed rubbed wire. After speaking to the UK Warranty Dept, the service engineer was put through to the German shop floor engineering section to discuss the issue for them to rectify the problem on the production line.

I think I read somewhere that Morgan was putting considerably more emphasis on controlling its warranty costs, so I'm not surprised by this turn of events. Hopefully they will develop a reference bible of known warranty problems/issues and accepted fixes to aid and speed up the process, of course this also would create a known tolerance,/acceptable characteristic of faults/issues outside of warranty claims procedure.
