Does anyone know of any safety rear roll bar solutions available ... I can find plenty online for the traditional cars but not the CX models?

I talked to Henry at Williams Automobiles about a stainless roll bar for our Plus Six 14 months ago and he said they were looking into it, but dont hold your breath.. Since then I have not seen one advertised for a CX or fitted to a road going CX. I see that Williams does have a track version on their racing CX though.. Seeing how near the backrests on our Plus Six are to the top it might be tricky getting one to fit that allows the top to come down easily and also not rub when its up... however, if anyone comes up with a roll bar that would fit I might be interested.

I may well be worth an enquiry to Morgan Park as they are normally way ahead of the useful quality modifications for all Morgan cars.

I was at Williams a week ago and was shown their race prepped Plus Four. It had a full race spec roll cage. Not suitable for a road car where the hood needs raising. I was told a fast car with no major upgrades....yet! They had fitted a Librands roll bar to my previous trad car with no roof problems for a nine stud version not easy-up.They also modified my tonneau cover to fit round it at the same time. I'd be interested in a roll bar for the Plus Four.

As mentioned in previous posts the roll bar was lower than your head as seen on many Mogs with the Librands bar.

Em, mine was touch and go for my height but I lowered the seat by removing the wooden spacers. It then gave a small extra clearance. The line from the cowl to the bar showed a small clearance. I had a before/ after photo as a check for the line. My thoughts were " better than nothing". Librands also had a higher clearance option that was a simple bolt on after removing the normal road one plus a cross bar to allow fitting of a four point harness that came with the original.

As mentioned in previous posts the roll bar was lower than your head as seen on many Mogs with the Librands bar. The factory Plus 4 Super Sport (pre-CX), fitted with the Safety Devices cage, had the same issue - my head was above the roll bar, and I believe most people would be similar if they were circa six foot tall. As has been mentioned above, it would appear safe clearance does is not easy to achieve, for all heights of drivers, whilst having an operational soft top in place. However, perhaps Safety Devices are also worth a call - they have been very helpful when I have spoken with them in the past.

Many of us drive with the top down most of the time anyway I don't claim to be an expert Heinz but I believe, unless there are other sections of the roll bar (not just uprights but also 'buttresses' (slanted supports)), they offer very little real protection. This is, appears to be, why many roll bars are sold as "cosmetic" rather than genuine safety devices (at least this seems to apply in the UK).
