At the risk of repetition, but what the hell....... MMC's days are numbered............ Certainly in their current form.
They must build a low cost, entry level, 4/4 trad style car. The CX range is not good enough to compete with other cars in the £100k+, high days and holidays sports car world, and it's too expensive to be a Morgan.
If the Italians, all of the middle management, designers, marketers, and assorted drains on the finances don't come to their collective senses in the very near future, I fear their days are numbered and the Pickersleigh Lane site will become a housing estate......🤷🏻♂️

There are some stonking buys out there at the moment i personally think it all started when the cx's started to appear in large numbers at non Morgan garages. Morgan dealers refused to take cars due to their stock levels and some dreamers wanted to get out of mog ownership and back to mainstream exotica and happy to do a part ex at a huge loss . Once the greedy Morgan dealers realize they have to reduce some of their Trad prices quite a few having cars sitting for a year and a half cx prices might level out a bit. Sadly I think Morgan have blown it regarding prices and unfortunately for adopters that have bought retail over the last few years the market will find its own level. Gone are the days when a bit of man maths and convincing the wife you would probably get your money back. It's ok if your pride and joy is a keeper or you enjoy using it regularly like myself but I don't think anyone saw this coming. Has there ever been a better time to buy the best second hand car Morgan has ever made, I don't think so...... Em I must say, as a potential new comer to the marque - I must say I have come to a broadly similar set of conclusions. Why would I be wanting to pay more than mid/high £50s for an early plus six. Makes a mockery of the cars advertised near 6 figures. It also I must confess leaves me wondering what things will look like come the cold weather (when fun cars are struggling mid summer).

I don't think it's a thread drift, Clemens, because we are only comparing new car prices with those for young used Morgan cars, which are shrinking faster than was previously the case with Morgan. I also see your point that you have to expect costs as a small manufacturer that cannot be covered by a lower price of the cars. But I also see what Dave says, MMC is not a company where you can milk manager salaries. Jens' point that there is no entry-level model, at least for markets that would still allow such a car, is also worth considering. But from my point of view, that would be hardly conceivable on the same production line, together with CX models. Ok, in the past they also built Trads and Aeros in parallel, but much fewer Aeros. So it's what you, Clemens, say at the end. It's a matter of finding those 1000 buyers so that the beginning of the buyer chain can be preserved.

Heinz I can only confirm your statement that a low cost and a premium product cannot be manufactured in parallel on one production line. Not with a small unit like MMC anyway. I have already had a bloody nose with such an attempt in my professional life. I also understand Julian and Jens' desire for a low-cost car very well. Unfortunately, this cannot be realized with the current structure of MMC. Small quantities, manufactured by hand in a high-wage country like England is not feasible. It will be a loss maker! Jens' system of a bit of sheet metal, a bit of paint and the Hannomag is finished is over in Europe. ( That's why the company Hannomag no longer exist ) To produce a low-cost car, MMC would have to reinvent itself on a greenfield site ... and the greenfield site would then be in Asia and no longer in Mavern A company has to make a profit otherwise it will die.

So, back to a used Plus Six. I heard through a friend, from an impeccable source, (a main dealer), and I hope this doesn't impact any early adopters, that the Six to go for s/h, has to be a 2013 or later model as it had so many improvements that it is virtually a different car. I haven't been able to verify this, but would anyone care to comment, before I start looking? Values are bound to level out soon, so now could be the right time - who knows?

Well did you mean 2023? They didn't make them in 2013. The MY22 cars sold in 23 were superseeded by MY23 cars. If it has a net in the glovebox it is an MY22 car. Now Morgan ran tons of offers on MY23 cars reducing MY22 values.

Hi Paul, the 2023 model had some changes, being a change of manufacturer of the brake components used and I believe traction control came in as well, the dash was changed to a metal painted finish and airbags fitted, plus I think near this year the sound system was changed. So yes, they have the latest bells and whistles. The earlier cars had a veneer wood dash similar to the traditional design and brakes that are fine when well bled. I was told the later brake system has a better "feel". Dont think much else has changed apart from around the MY2021 year the top design was changed, the earlier Plus Six cars have "flaps" over their upper doors when its up, the later model seals against the top itself, so its a little faster to get in and out. Also from around mid 2020 the lower seat section design was changed and this sat the driver lower and gave more leg side support. Most folk liked this, but I prefer the earlier design.. Must be the shape of my rear end.. I own a mid 2020 model, so I dont necessary look at the latest "improvements" as improvements, just design changes, some introduced from customer views, some from supplier. The pre 2023 cars may have a more raw feeling to you when driven and from my perspective that is what I wanted. I absolutely hate the later Plus Six dash design, be it that it now has airbags. Also of note the later cars with airbags can not have their steering wheel changed to the older Moto-Lita design, you have to use the MMC version. I think you should road test all the years, they will feel a little different and then make a call. The Plus Six is a great car, an early "sorted" car is in my view as good as the latest version..

Paul, why not contact your local MSCC centre & tap into the knowledge. None members are welcome as we recognise the need to learn about the cars. Fossil Mog are based in Lyme bay so not far from you. The link is here
