Just had a thought, if your car is the same as mine the ignition relay and fuel pump relay are under the passenger side bonnet near to the cockpit bulkhead. The fuel pump relay is the one towards the back. Nearby on the bulkhead is the fuel pump inertia cut off switch, this disconnects the fuel pump in the event of an accident. Might be worth a look around there. The fuel pump relay should close for about one second when the ignition is switched on but the car not started. A multimeter connected at the positive and negative of the fuel pump terminals while someone turns the ignition on should show volts for about one second.

Also, if your car is fitted with the same immobiliser as mine and the ECU fails to read the ignition key transponder (a small looking glass bead fitted inside the key) the pump will not be activated, nor for that matter will the ignition, This should be fairly obvious because the immobiliser LED mounted in the dashboard would be flashing rapidly to indicate the immobiliser being activated and I am sure you would have noticed that. If this is the problem let me know and I can give you a few tips.

I’m in Sudbury, Suffolk so going to Rutter’s might be on the cards. I shall take a close look at the connections over the weekend just to see if anything obvious is loose or damaged.
