Our Plus Six had its Overseer module replaced last year under warranty, the dealer told me that a few Plus Six cars have had the module replaced. The unit threw up some diagnostic errors after the cars bad earth issues were resolved.

After a few minutes the message disappeared and the pressed warning light also started flashing. After that the engine started again and I could drive on. Now I can't find any clue in Hanbuch what that meant. Can someone give a hint

It's explained in the handbook Clemens. You can download a copy here but note it's explained more fully in the Plus Six manual. Page 17 shows the two associated indications "OS off" and "OS fault". Page 28 explains the overseer. The switch turns it off to allow handbrake use during driving off road etc. It needs to be pressed for 3 seconds. Note it re-engages by default on next start up.

Thank you Richard for your information. I found the symbol on page 17 of the PlusFour manual but no explanation.
I have now read the corresponding passage in the PlusSix. It is also described in PlusFour on page 28.

Now I understand in any case already what happened. The transmission was shifted into neutral. That explains why the car suddenly rolled out. Why the engine also stopped is not explained. It happened to me on a normal country road when driving straight out yesterday and again this morning when leaving the garage. So a blocking of the rear wheels I can exclude. Nevertheless, the transmission was shifted into neutral and the engine stopped. I have not done anything to the handbrake.
I have never operated the overseer switch ... must admit that I did not even know it.

Yesterday, I met up with a friend in his MY21? plus four, after he had completed a 15 mile drive. On stopping, he noticed that the overseer icon was illuminated, together with the petrol pump icon. Operating the ignition key had no effect; the engine would not turn over at all.
Having found the overseer button under the dash we pressed and held that for several seconds with no effect.
When we looked again after an hour or so, the dash indications were back to normal and the car started readily!
So what is that all about?
He will take it to be checked out this week but is naturally rather worried that this gremlin may appear again on his journey to Windermere next week.
Any thoughts or experience out there please?

It's happened twice to me during our first thousand miles and nothing since. It got a full health check when we had the rad upgrade I still don't quite understand what it's all about.Plus if you have your shades on nothing shows on the dash I was on a busy junction and franticly switched everything on and off a few times and she fired up.The second time the icon was clearly visable same scenario took a bit longer then eventually fired up. Ours was replaced by the dealer after about 1.5K miles. I had just come off the motorway, slowing for traffic lights at A road junction and at about 5mph the car cut out in drive, came to a dead halt, all displays dead, frantically turned ignition on and off and nothing, then after about a minute normal service and the engine started etc and away we went. Car went back to dealer where they went through the cars electrics remade all the earths following discussion with factory etc, following from that disgnostics showed an overseer fault code, so unit was replaced. Since then touch wood all ok.

Interesting mine is a manual but goes into KH for a new rad on Thursday. I thought the overseer switch was only relevant for auto boxes but there was discussion of the need to check if the overseer module could be reprogrammed or a new one needed. I'll ask them why.

Forgot to mention that this was a manual gearbox too and its done something around 20 k miles. Agree that the overseer makes some sense with an auto box if both back wheels lock up but not sure how it would work with a manual box.

In an older (2020) Owner’s Manual, pages 28/29:

“Overseer Switch (Automatic Vehicles Only)

WARNING Do not disable the overseer for driving on public roads.

WARNING The Overseer system is not a driver aid, stability, or traction
control system.

The overseer is a safety feature that detects locking of the rear wheels. In such
an event the overseer will place the gearbox into neutral. This feature can be
deactivated at the driver’s risk if potential rear wheel lock-up is considered
acceptable. This is not advisable on public roads under any circumstance.

With the ignition on, or engine running, pressing the overseer button for 3
seconds will disable the rear wheel lockup detection. When the overseer is
disabled, the amber overseer icon (OS) will display in the Driver Information
Panel. The overseer automatically re-engages after the ignition is switched off.“
