Good point Doug. Increasing speed due to steep hill, so the Overseer perceives acceleration + no throttle input = Overseer tells ECU to shut the engine down.

I was wondering why they had indicated X and Y accelerometers, and then said one was "left to right" and the other "up and down". In my experience, X would be direction of travel, Y would be right angles to direction of travel and "up and down" would be classified as Z, assuming "up and down" relates to height. Perhaps the explanation is simplified and the logic is something like "IF accelerometer X shows acceleration AND throttle input is present OR accelerometer Y shows downhill THEN OK". That would cover acceleration due to throttle or going downhill, but assumes that one of the accelerometers knows that the car is going downhill.
